This past weekend went better than I thought which made me happy. There were some tears but hey what do you expect.

Friday night: I took a girl's hours and working from 4:30pm ish until 11pm ish. The night was rather busy early then died off rather quickly. There was Rocktober fest going on in the parking lot across the street. I came home and went to bed soon there after, I was bloody tired.

Saturday/night: Islept in a little, ok more than I wanted to but it felt soo good. Something is taking out a lot of team members at work, some cold/upper respiratory thingy. Idon't know what it is but that doesn't matter now, Ihave it. Ithink it was the change in weather that started to kick our asses. So I worked from 1:30-6pm, just something to do because I didn't want to be home. I didn't want to be crying at home, I wanted my mind on something else. I kinda cried at work when I thought about it for too long but eh, nothing to major. Afterwards I came home then mom and Iwent out to see a movie. We went to go see The Women at showplace 14. For a chick flick Iwas rather impressed and I liked it very much. Afterwards mom and Igot food from subway, yumminess. After we had supper Icalled up chelle, she had plans to take me out drinking, she pays. I am all over it, I want to drink whatever that day was supposed to be. So chelle, matt and I went down to a local brewery. Chelle was the designated driver which means matt and I can drink. I am not a beer person but the scottish beer I had was high in alcohol content and yummy for beer. It was a nice rich color, good taste etc. Then I started to hit the vodka after the beer, and Iknow you aren't supposed to mix. Sorry folks it doesn't affect me if I mix it like that. *shrugs* Inoticed that my tolerance for alcohol is shot, two highly potent drinks and I am rather buzzed. Matt was giggly which was beyond cute. He and Iwere laughing it up all night long. We decided to go to IHOP for food afterwards. Lets just say lots of giggling, cops watching homecoming kids, us drunk in public etc. So much damn fun! Drunk dialed Will. *smiles* Got home a lil after two am Ithink...maybe. Then I stayed up until 4 am ish talking to Cameron my good friend who is in Austrailia.

*small segway about Cameron* - so yea I was up late talking to Cameron talking to him about what has been happening in my life etc. Iknew he was coming over to the US soon but I didn't realize like January soon. A really sweet guy, has some beautiful tats, we connect on several levels etc. Who knows? *smirk*

*back to topic*

Sunday: Had to get up early to go see the grandparents. Hung over, nope we smiley's don't get hang overs. No puking, no headache, no queasy stomach etc. Just a little slow on processing some thoughts at times. Mom busted me out at B D for drinking because it took me a moment to formulate the right words. Afterwards we went over to the farm for my cousin's 14th bday party. We got her a $50 Target Domo dress you domo in halloween gift card, a cool picture frame, a stewie bday card, and a Vampire Domo. Apparently my last min idea of a getting a Domo was a hit. She LOVES the Domo, took it to school today, the kids were envious of her etc. Remember a lil po dunk small farm town school. I am quite happy that she likes it. Iam taking her shopping at Target to use the giftcard and use my discount. In the evening Iwatched an awesome BEARS game, how about that defense?!! Then Ihad issues coming home with my car over heating, the tow etc. *see earlier post*

Today: Apparently when it comes to my car, it needs a new radiator thanks to the accident in july, some new hoses and a new radiator cap. So around 640 bucks later, yea I'll get it hopefully tomorrow. Chelle took me to work, which was nice. At work I was so damn BUSY! I had film orders out the ying yang, then once Igot caught up, here came the digital orders and vice versa. I liked being that busy. It made my day pass by a hell of a lot faster. Yon took me home today, and I have been home the rest of the night. Whatever is going around the damn store is trying to kick my ass. It kinda feels like strep throat but Iknow what that feels like, getting it as often as Ido. It can either go that route or just be a sore throat. So I am going to bed early to prevent the possible strep throat.

Gnight folks.

Some of you know that Josh and I were able to fulfill a life goal (and a really lofty one at that:) yesterday. We went to a Coldplay concert in Boston, MA last night and it...was...Awwwwesome. Instead of writing a witty and much more interesting narrative, I'm just going to list off some of the things we noticed (and when I say we, I mean me...Josh can enjoy things better). Let me first start by describing the people around us:

Couple #1 - located to our left. When we stood up, they were right behind me (think slanting in on the chorus risers). Well there are two things I have to say about them. 1) The dude stunk like he hadn't showered in 3 days. The worst part about it was that he didn't even look like a stinker, but WAS! Oh, wait, I lied...the worst part about it was that he was also ripping the entire night. 2) Stinky man thought he was Chris Martin. I listened to two front men last night - the amazing Chris Martin and Stinky McStink-pants.

Couple #2 - located directly in front of us. Picture crazy is an understatement. Wild-eyed is also an understatement. And mousy - you guessed it - huge understatement. Unfortunately, they had no rhythm either.

Couple #3 - located in front and to the right. They were the worst couple of them all. Picture Matt Muir's height and red hair blocking the entire show in front of you. If it were Matt we could excuse it, but the dude also had no rhythm and he stood up from the beginning to the end of the concert. He and his girlfriend had several "moments" throughout the night as well. And listen...all of you who know me know that I was an avid concert goer in my younger years and I'm totally for standing during a concert. In fact, my favorite place to be was on the floor in a mass of people. However, when you're on the balcony and everyone else around you is sitting...take a hint. I still had to give it to him for standing and enjoying himself, but next time it better not be at my viewing expense. Josh just reminded me...it wasn't just that he had no rhythm...picture a tall and lanky Elaine Benice. Oh yes, you read correctly...jerking and all.

Now that we have the company established...let's get on to the good stuff...

1) I know this happened before tonight, but cell phones have officially taken over the lighter. I did not see one lighter being waved during the entire concert.

2) Whilst I did not see any lighters, there must have been some because I smelled the inevitable aroma of cannabis setiva. Oh yes...it wouldn't be a concert if some kid (or maybe adult, who knows these days) snuck in some pot.

3) We paid a painful $28 to park...that's not right.

4) Tom Brady was definitely in the audience and Chris Martin dedicated the last song (Death and All His Friends) to him.

5) While Martin was honored to have Tom Brady there, he was surprised that there were so many people there on a Monday night missing out on Seinfeld and Home Improvement re-runs. Needless to say, they were very gracious musicians. And it was hard to miss Home Improvement...

6) Their drummer, Will Champion (awesome name), is one of THE most talented people I have ever seen. At one point he was drumming with one hand (working the pedal with a foot), shaking maracas with the other hand, AND singing all at the same time. Later he sang an entire song.

7)The lighting was pretty awesome - think lasers and white spotlights during "Fix You."

8) He let the audience sing a lot. My favorite times were when we sang the "Whoa-oh-oh" during "Viva la Vida", singing "Lights will guide you home and ignite your bones and I will try to fix you" during "Fix you" and the first line in "Yellow". It rocked.

9) So there was a big globe hanging from the ceiling that projected different things throughout the concert...it started off as just blue...draw your own conclusions. We had a good laugh.

10) They played two songs in the audience...freakin' awesome!

11) I could've gone with a longer set -list. I also could've gone without their little political blitz sideshow that flashed "OBAMA" four or five times before they came out and played an encore song - "Polotik"...surprise. Now, I loved the idea and the song but I'm not a fan of entertainers using their clout and ability to persuade when it comes to politics...especially when they're NOT FROM THE USA. It made a 10 concert a 9.

12) I say DOWN WITH TWO OPENING BANDS! Or maybe down with the opening band. If you say the concert begins at 7:30 please, please don't make me wait until 9:30 to see who I came to see. If you want to have two opening shows, start them at 6:00 or so. Especially if they're not great. So my conclusion...one opener.

13) Lastly...you know you're at a great concert when you feel like you can hear your heartbeat in every song that's played. The playing was inspiring and Chris Martin sounds as good as he does on CD, if not better.

I know this was incredibly long but if you're still reading...thanks for sticking with me.

The difference between Jay-Z's steez and Coldplay's is night and day. Where the rap star showed up with his band in natty suits and baggies, the Englishmen went for that ever-popular military officer's style favoured by bands dating back to before the Beatles.

It was all colourful and happy. Chris Martin even looked like he'd been out in the Sun. Not so other members, but that's what you hope for in pasty pop stars.
Always the most interesting element in the band, Martin has come a very long way from those early days when the band was filming videos at the Commodore Ballroom when Parachutes was breaking.
They are a huge group. One that has developed quite a potent live presentation too.

From the shifts in the arrangements to highlight the dynamics of the vocal harmonies and soaring crescendos in the bridges to the way that alll four members played off of one another, it was a spirited performance.
While I still find the group's songs skew towards women who would like to be Gwyneth Paltrow, there is no denying that the anthemic nature of its arena rock is the sort of thing that —as reporter Claire Ogilvie noted — you can close your eyes to and re-live the moment.

That, Jay-Z did not create with his far more funk it up and get busy with it show. That he nailed his show was pointed out by Chris Martin too with a good deal of humility.
The well-oiled Coldplay machine moved from strength to strength. When tthe whole unit moved stage forward to sing in a line, it created a dramatic tension that could really be enhanced by the lasers and images of the band put up on the two screens on either side of the stage. And drummer Will Champion doubtless enjoyed a chance to be seen from the waist up as he ratatat'ed out a beat on one of those electropad kits. “Speed Of Sound” followed and ws one of the evening's highlights as guitarist Jonny Buckland chimed out the tune's hook and Martin finally got behind the keys.

Guess which song was played when the whole stage and audience was bathed in yellow light? Yup, you got it; the first big hit “Yellow.”

Around this time, a woman nearby commented that ‘is it just me, or have they gotten prettier as time goes by?’ Yes, they have.

It's amazing what image consultants and crazy wads of cash can do for your looks. I'm still waiting to give it a try; anyone else?

The big production moment came when the entire band suddenly dropped off the main stage, travelled down the long corridor to a small platform stage near the soundboard and hauled out acoustic instruments for a very intimate take on “The Scientist“ that was pretty classic.

“We were thinking, what could we do in Canada that we'd never done before,” said Martin, noting that the event had been an overwhelming success. Very true.

A success that wasn't over yet either as the Crystal Method was just preparing to start spinning the the Bacardi B-Live tent in a matter of minutes.

All in all, a really fantastic three days.
Thanks are in order for all the concert-goers who kept it on the up and up, not turning any of the minor inconveniences into cause for misbehaviour and to all the hard-working volunteers on site. And, most of all, to Pemberton for letting us all come up and, admittedly, make a real mess all over someone's farm and have a ball. We know that the bug population is going to miss all the extra food, but the fun's gotta end at some point.

See you next year.

Coldplay Tour Delays

  • Jun. 13th, 2008 at 9:22 PM

Choppy waters ahead!
According to reports, Coldplay has been forced to postpone the start of their North American tour by 2 weeks because of 'production delays'.
The tour will now begin in LA, July 14th.
The stint was to close August 4th in Chicago but will instead wrap that day in Boston.
Tickets for the scrapped dates will be valid for the new ones, but refunds are also available at points of purchase. An updated itinerary is posted on the band's site.
Coldplay's previously announced free shows in London (June 16), Barcelona (June 17) and New York (June 23) will go on as planned.
What could be these so-called "production delays"???.

Apple has released yet another iTunes ad, this time featuring Coldplay. The ad mixes the familiar style of the iTunes ads with the color scheme of recent AppleTV videos to produce a trippy kind of effect.
If youd like to watch the ad in HD you can head over to Apples official site. The Coldplay song featured in the Ad, Viva La Vida is off their new album right now is exclusively available in iTunes, and is available DRM-free. You can click here for more info.

I'm sitting here listening to a track from the new Coldplay album Viva La Vida. It's ok. But that's not the point. The point is that I've actually pre-ordered the album from iTunes Store. Mainstream as they may be, I'm a bit of a Coldplay fan. Not just that, I'm also a lazy Coldplay fan who doesn't have the energy to search around for free downloads. I want the album when it comes out, and this is an easy way to get it. When you pre-order you also get one of the tracks right away.

But that's me. There are obviously a zillion people out there who will never pay a cent for this album, and they will actually get a better product than I did. They'll get a product that they can distribute anywhere and use anywhere. Mine is limited to five machines. Thanks guys. I feel really appreciated now.

A problem of DRM is that it disables the social marketing engine for artists. I want to share music with my friends. I want to talk about it. But I can't, because the song I bought is limited to 5 machines. Ultimately that model is counter productive for the artist, and this is why the Spotify model will rule the world It's a win-win deal between the audience AND the artist.
