Former Fight Klub battle-champ (where in 05 and 06 he defeated onetime 106 Park and 04 Fight Klub king Jin, and more than a dozen additional microphone foes) Serius Jones will provide a feast for his fans this Thanksgiving with the release of a new free mixtape, Serius Bizness.

HipHopDX recently spoke to the 26-year-old Englewood, New Jersey native to get the full mix details, as well as info on the new record deal Serius just signed, and what exactly lead to the witty wordsmith abandoning his previous partnership with Ludacris label, Disturbing Tha Peace, after roughly 18 months.

Serius Bizness is a traditional mix of all-original songs and freestyles to other artists beats (including Good Guy, Serius satirical sendup of Jay-Zs Say Hello that should help to reintroduce Jones rumble-ready flow and cocksure coolness to those still sleeping on his obvious talent.

Basically this is like a culmination of all the underground music that Ive been recording for like the last year, Serius explained to DX. I got some big-ass records on there that I cant put on [my] album, so I might as well let the streets and the Internet have it. Cause people need some music on me to really know where Im at career-wise. Cause unfortunately a lot of peopleeven though a lot of people have, a lot of people still havent really zoned with King Me and know that my music is crazy.

Anyone thats heard Jones bone-chilling east coast reinterpretation of Ice-Ts classic the boom bap ode to the origin of his style, and the 50 Cent-endorsed (and impressively radio ready) explanation of the meaning behind his name, knows that King Me stands as one of the finest street albums released in recent memory.

I want people to understand one thing, said Serius, if you havent heard King Me, stop even reading this interview and go out and get the shit right now.

Demonstrating an amazing ability especially for someone forced to sport the Hip Hop scarlet letter tag of being a battle rapper to craft songs for any and all audiences, two years after its release King Me remarkably still holds up, so much so that Serius was able to just last month release a video for one of the CDs gems, Slow Down [click to view].

But Jones isnt stuck in the past and relying on previously released joints to feed Hip Hop fans never ending hunger for new material. In addition to his aforementioned Thanksgiving day mix, Serius recently unleashed a new official single, The World Keeps Movin Produced by Lil Waynes co-star (and tragically recently passed singer-songwriter) Static Major, the track is the first offering from Jones forthcoming digital album, tentatively titled The Greatest, which should follow shortly on the heels of the release of Serius Bizness.

If anybody knows anything about me, they know that I had, and still got, a huge buzz, said Serius of his relentless grind to remain relevant in the eyes of the fickle music biz. But everything that was fucked up with my situation was because of the business. It was never cause of the talent. It was never cause of the music.

Indeed, few would argue that Serius Jones skill on the mic was to blame for his previous major-label deal going bust. But just who is to blame seems to remain open to interpretation.

After signing with Disturbing Tha Peace in late 06, Serius sat on the sidelines until DTP entered what were rumored to be contentious renegotiations with distribution home Def Jam in February of this year. While the deal to continue distributing DTP product through Def Jam was reportedly agreed to shortly after these rumors surfaced, the seeming instability of the situation at DTP left Jones facing an uncertain future. And so due to this, along with other issues, Serius left Ludacris label this past spring.

Shout out to him, said Jones of his former label head. I like the new song he got with T-Pain. Hes definitely one of the best we have left in terms of being an actual credible emcee and still a superstar. But it just wasnt meant to be, man. Like, we had a cool vibe. We kicked it a couple times, partied. I was in his crib making hit recordsI fucked with him, but in terms of [being a label CEO], I dont think he was on a mission to make sure that his artists win.

Many superstar rappers-turned-label owners have been accused of intentionally sabotaging the careers of the often newer, less-established artists they are overseeing to ensure that they remain the only star shining in their crew.

m not suggesting that [it was] intentional at all, said Serius when asked if he had been a victim of this sort of sabotage. m suggesting that for me, thats not acceptable. Because Im dead serious no pun intended about greatness. Im not playin! I didnt come this far in life period to allow my career to be given the bare minimum. Anybody thats been following [my career knows that] I done way more after I got signed than while I was signed. And theres no excuse for that. I dont care what nobody say. he continued, the issue that most people dont understand, and its my job to clear up, [is that] its not on Ludacris to do that. Ludacris had a company called Disturbing Tha Peace. And this company which signs the artists, their responsibility if that is their goal is to make sure their artists get the proper light. That they get the chance to win, and get better exposure opportunities because of the fact they have a superstar artist thats at The Grammys, thats in movies, thats in magazines and all over the Internet. That would be their responsibility, in terms of DTP.

Serius remains adamant in his belief that it wasnt Ludacris responsibility to turn him into a star. And so it appears that while not named by Jones during his discussion with DX, that rumored friction with DTP execs Chaka Zulu and Jeff Dixon may have been the likely other issues that lead to his exodus from the label.

The hospitality in the beginning was really there, Serius said of his relationship with DTP. But I think after awhile people just got annoyed of me, and sick of me. Its like, This gotdamn Serius Jones guy. He keeps going. Hes not stopping and just settling in like everybody else. And its like, no muthafucka Im not stopping and allowing myself to be [content] with riding in the fuckin promo van. Like, nah B, this is rap star shit. Cause if it aint, and if you aint no fuckin rap star, you just some other little dusty rap nigga with a chain trying to be noticed. And that aint never been my style.

Although the last DTP sponsored event Serius attended ended with an altercation between Jones and a bouncer, and he was clearly struggling in a situation in which he felt was requiring that he sacrifice his own artist ambitions, Serius explained to DX that he not only harbors no ill will towards Ludacris, but towards anyone at his former label home.

s all love though, on my end, he said. I dont have nothing but good wishes for them. I wish them all the best. In terms of being people, in terms of character, I dont think they had any malice towards me. But its a business.

Frustrated, but not broken by the business of music, Serius is determined to soldier forward and continue marching towards his goal of winning in the rap game, regardless of what anyone thinks of his methodology.

I heard stuff that supposedly Im a head case, he said. m supposedly a diva. Like, I think my shit dont stink and all this. Look man, if anybody know me, and if anybody has followed anything about me, they know that Im a humble dude with it when it comes to me not being on stage, when it comes to me not being a rapper. A star is supposed to shine [though]. [And] Im not turning my shine off because people are uncomfortable about it. I cant do that. I cant afford to do that. I gotta feed people. I gotta eat. And at the end of the day, Im on a mission.

Sha Money XL, G-Units Ex (but long time) Vice President, says that Eminems much anticipated and long-awaited new album will be called The Empack. With a picture showing Eminem, Dr Dre and 50 Cent above, Sha Money posted a blog on his website warning rappers to release their albums implying that they wont be able to compete with Dres 50 Cents Self Destruct (actually called Before I Self Destruct) and Eminems The Empack.

The first of the three albums is expected to be 50 Cents on December 9th with Dr Dre and Eminem following close behind. Although it makes more sense to be called The Empact (maybe Sha just mis-typed), no matter what its actually titled, the album will be the first solo release from Eminem since 2004s Encore.

4 Stars Great cable, but too pricy
This is an excellent cable that appears to be very sturdy and provides flawless service with a high performance Blu-Ray/HDTV combination (Panasonic DMP BD30/Samsung LN52a750). There are no deficiencies whatsoever that I have found in the performance or construction of the (1000 series) Monster cable. It is also a very nice-looking cable.
Why only 4 stars, you may ask. Answer: the price. Even with Amazons substantial discount, this product is overpriced. Let me share what I have read and learned about HDMI cable since I spent the 80 bucks on a Monster cable.
Many have said that an HDMI cable transfers digital information and either works, or not. This is not entirely true. It is true in the sense that you will probably either experience major problems or you will experience only subtle problems (or none) from an inferior cable. The subtle problems are likely to be irrelevant to most people unless you have a Blu-Ray player and HDTV combo capable of producing deep color.
I would assume that the transfer of digital information through an HDMI cable is analogous to pouring water through a funnel. There is a limit to how fast you can pour water into the funnel (if you set aside the possibility of variations in gravity, black holes, time/space distortions, spout diameter, or atmospheric pressure/vacuum differentials). If you attempt to pour faster, the funnel overflows and some of the water is lost. Logically, the same should be true if a premium A/V set tries to push more bandwidth than the cable will allow. The data rates of simple static scenes and fast moving complex scenes vary substantially. This means that an inferior cable may work fine 99% of the time, but fail when the transmission rate is very high. This could result in a temporary loss of audio or video, video pixilation, audio or video skipping, or the loss of audio/video synchronization. It could also cause the HDMI to kick down the transmission to a lower resolution. To put it simply, you can watch on Blu-Ray using a cheap cable, but you might miss the best parts.
The latest specification for high-speed HDMI cable is HDMI 1.3 or better. HDMI 1.3 goes well beyond the requirements for existing equipment. There are no differences between 1.3, 1.3a, and 1.3b that are relevant to the consumer. 1.3 more than doubles the bandwidth of the previous standard (from 4.95 Gbits/s or 165 MHz to 10.2 Gbits/s or 340 MHz). It gives you the equivalent of a wider spout for the digital information to pass through as well as better support for multichannel audio.
Versions prior to HDMI 1.3 might not support:

* Super Audio CD (SACD) - A higher fidelity format than ordinary CDs

* DVD-A(udio) - This is a format for delivering very high fidelity digital audio content on a DVD. This is an audio-only format and does not include common DVD movies.

Versions prior to HDMI 1.3 do not support:

* Deep Color - Billions and billions of colors. 30 bits of color precision or greater.

* Dolby True HD - An advanced multi-channel lossless audio codec.

* Audio to Video Synchronization - Auto Lip Sync. Admittedly, if youre watching a Kung Fu movie, this wont help.
Premium cables may have better shielding, but this is unlikely to matter in common circumstances. You can certainly find cables meeting the 1.3 standard for far less than you have to pay for a Monster cable. The rap on cheaper cables is that the connectors are often less sturdy than a premium brand and fall apart. If you actually need a cable that is 1.3 compliant, youve already spent thousands of dollars on your system. Unless you are completely broke at this point, you might be more comfortable buying the cable from a manufacturer that has a reputation it must protect. Bear in mind that according to their own published specifications, only the most expensive (1000 series) Monster cable is 1.3 compliant. The good news is that you can buy the Monster cable (2meters) at Amazon for about 45% less than you would pay at Best Buy.
Having said all that, you might first want to try the bluejeanscable or monoprice websites. They seem to have happy customers and their prices are a fraction of Monster or Sony. I didnt discover these sites until after I had purchased the Monster cable. The cables they sell are HDMI 1.3 compliant and prices run about $6 to $10 for a two meter cable. Since they are certified to meet the new standard, the only potential problem might be in durability. Even if that is the case, it shouldnt be a problem unless you are frequently moving things around and pulling on the cable. If you are planning to use a long run of cable through the wall, then you certainly will want to check these sites out. Only a drunken sailor or the uninformed would spend the Monster price on a 50 cable unless it was truly necessary. You could buy a Blu-Ray player for the difference.

In a recent interview, G-Unit soldier Tony Yayo talked about a certain track from the upcoming G-Unit album, Terminate on Sight. The track hes talking about features Eminem, and is produced by Dr. Dre.
The track with Em is raw. Him And Fif are gonna kill someones career with that, but Ill keep that to myself right now, Yayo said. I dont think yall gonna be ready for this track. I think it might push this nigga to kill himself when he hears this.
Yayo also revealed that Timbaland, Swizz Beatz and Polow Da Don will be on the album.
