In 1962, he promised that we wouldn't have him "to kick around anymore." But Richard Nixon refused to disappear. And, for that crime, some of us on the left haven't stopped kicking. Not after his resignation in disgrace. Not after his death in 1994. And, as the film indicates, perhaps not even today -- despite a Democratic president-elect who preaches a "no drama" spirit of reconciliation rather than the usual partisan rancor. What exactly is our problem? The release of , the Ron Howard film version of British screenwriter Peter Morgan's stage play, offers yet another chance to explore our obsession with this man who, for many, functions as America's Satan: that brooding dark angel driven by his overpowering ambition. The movie tells the story of how lightweight British talk show host David Frost bested the American television networks by landing a series of exclusive interviews with Nixon in the spring of 1977. The former president was, at that time, preparing to publish his memoirs and launch a campaign to rehabilitate his legacy. Employing boxing and other sports metaphors, Morgan casts the tale as a battle to regain the public spotlight that only one man can win. On Broadway, the narrator, prototypical liberal James Reston, Jr., who serves on Frost's research team, identifies a moral purpose to their efforts, telling his boss that the interviews must function as "the trial Richard Nixon never had," insisting that "the integrity of our political system" requires convicting the former president of his crimes. And, after Frost lands his knock-out blow, getting Nixon to admit tearfully that "he let the American people down," the play ended with Reston's reassurance that the demon had been exorcised: "Nixon never again held public office of any kind, nor achieved the rehabilitation he so desperately craved."Yet there's something about Richard Nixon that won't let good liberals rest. In moments of honesty, some of us find something in him that we, perhaps, admire -- certainly that we can't dismiss. , as it moved to the screen, seems to have tapped into this vein, showing a much more sympathetic, admirable former president than appeared on Broadway. In a new scene (set at San Clemente during a break in the interviews' taping schedule), Nixon (portrayed brilliantly by Frank Langella) plays piano for his handlers while Pat Nixon (Patty McCormack), wanders into the celebration. When the president's chief corner man, Jack Brennan (Kevin Bacon) exults that Nixon is "sitting on an 11-0 lead," Mrs. Nixon quietly expresses satisfaction that "things are going according to plan." Up to this time, Langella's Nixon has been almost gleefully wily and evasive, deftly stymieing Frost's attempts to corner him with tough questions. But, as his wife speaks, Nixon turns somber and pensive -- as if the sight of the woman whom he has most injured by his public misconduct makes him realize that he can't go on without admitting some kind of guilt. As a result, the climatic scene in which Nixon admits that he failed the American people doesn't play out as the moment of sweet revenge that the typical Nixon-hater would desire. Perhaps to increase screen-time for the magnificent Oliver Platt (playing Frost investigator Bob Zelnick), the film dilutes the influence of Sam Rockwell's Reston character. As a result, Howard's movie become less a story about bringing Richard Nixon to justice and more about the one-on-one struggle between David Frost and the ex-president to revive their lagging reputations. Moreover, what in the theater worked to Frost's advantage, in the intimacy of the camera's close-up, now plays in Nixon's favor. As the former president prepares to give the closest thing to a confession he would ever offer, Michael Sheen plays Frost with eyes lit with the excited bloodlust of a piranha on the attack. Truth and justice are beside the point; Frost's concern is for capturing that great television moment that will redeem his career and guarantee the financial success of the interviews. By contrast, Langella's Nixon, seen in a way that the audience could not observe on Broadway, goes through a tangled mix of emotions as he struggles against, but then clearly offers, a heartful mea culpa. This time, Nixon carries the moral weight, telling the truth, though inconvenient to his hopes for rehabilitation, because he must. But feeling sympathy for Richard Nixon makes good liberals uneasy. Perhaps this is because Nixon's comeback was much more successful than we want to admit and Peter Morgan would have us believe. After the Frost interviews, Richard Nixon went on to write nine bestselling books and serve as a private counselor to Ronald Reagan and other Republican politicians. Truth is, we're scared that he hasn't really gone away. We're more comfortable when we demonize him, keeping him in his place. At a screening on the second day of the film's limited release, the New York City audience clearly wanted to create this safe emotional distance. During the heated exchange about the 1970 Cambodian invasion, Langella's Nixon insisted that operation had been successful and that his only regret was in not having "gone in sooner -- and harder." At what would have been an applause line had the film been showing at the Richard Nixon Library and Birthplace, a voice from the back of this Manhattan theater cried out, mock-heroically, "Sock it to 'em Dickie" and a garnered bigger response than any of the movie's actual laugh lines. So, as many are eagerly awaiting the change in presidential administrations, Frost/Nixon puts liberals in a potential quandry. Barack Obama has done more than anyone to move beyond Nixon's politics of division. As one downstate Illinois newspaper editor explained to Joe Klein back in 2006: "Obama is reaching out. He's saying the other side isn't evil." In his conduct over the past two years, our president-elect has proven that he means it. But, as we sit in movie theaters and resist humanizing our favorite devil, we have to ask ourselves whether we do too.

Communication is deep, I love it when we talk
Hate it when you leave but when you leave I love to watch you walk
You make a nigga forget about a life full of DRAMA
She got expensive taste she get it from her momma
Materialistic still a nigga wanna consistantly miss her
Touch what she dont, she smell like CHANEL
She feelin me and I can tell
With the right woman by my side I feel like I cant fail
I been around been up my attitude if fuck it now, she a rider
Im in heaven when I am inside her
Workin up a sweat, kissin on her neck
Twirl play in the deck four bit correct
Have her drippin wet
She look in my eye and said she like but I know she love it
I just keep doin what Im doin and think nothing of it

Justin Timberlake admits he has some special kind of feelings for his Black Snake Moan costar Samuel L. Jackson.
I am here because onscreen and off, I feel nothing but love for the great Samuel L. Jackson, Timberlake said at last nights American Cinematheque gala honoring Jackson in Beverly Hills. At least for tonight that mysterious stands for man love—and theres nothing wrong with it.
While high on praise, the Cinematheques annual awards ceremony is more of a roast than anything else.
Timberlake got in some of the best cracks. He said past honorees like Julia Roberts, Al Pacino and George Clooney have nothing on the Pulp Fiction starDid any of those other stars start their path to cinematic greatness like Sam did? Timberlake asked. Did Julia star in the unforgettable role of Black Guy in Sea of Love? Did Al Pacino have the chops to play Hold-Up Man in Coming to America? And did Geoge Clooney have the range to play Taxi Dispatcher in Betsys Wedding or Blind Dream Man in Exorcist III.

winter of '08, my parents moved in with me and my two older children. So strange, it seems now, to write of her passing and know she will not be with us for Thanksgiving or Christmas. You know your mother must die yet think she is eternal.
Neither did she linger to celebrate her and my father's 60th wedding anniversary, which would have been later this month. A few days ago my dad began to grasp her absence. He stopped putting out two plates for breakfast and two plates for lunch and dinner. Yesterday we dragged him to a family dinner at my aunt's house, the home of one of my mother's sisters. He surprised himself and enjoyed the visit, and some of us told amusing tales about his wife, their aunt, a sister, their grandmother, my mom.
At the funeral Saturday before last, I watched him. He weeped briefly. Today he left the house on his own for the first time since her death, a short distance to the dollar store in search of cookies and to stretch his legs. When he returned, he told me that he's sleeping through the nights better, not waking to check on Mom or making sure she's not up and wandering.
I have weeped in short fits, mostly unseen by others. Mourning's been my loss of years with her when she lost memory of me. I don't know that wild fit of sorrow, but moments of sober reflection and the dry heaviness when waking. During the funeral, I almost released that gush of grief for which church ushers stand on guard, a daughter's sobbing or collapse as the coffin shuts, but my heart was disinterested.
The congregation sang Blessed Assurance. I saw my mother and I riding in our family's old white Plymouth Fury down Jefferson Davis Parkway in New Orleans, as we often did, returning home from my grandmother's house, and she was singing that hymn. I heard her singing like I was with her on the road again and recalled how calm she looked driving and speaking to God. Then I remembered that I'd sang that same hymn to her in the hospital while she battled death in ICU. I almost cried then, but started smiling at both memories, grateful for our time, happy I'd moved back home.
My mother was the daughter and grand-daughter of United Methodist ministers, a spiritual woman who required that we attend Sunday School and church services each Sunday and if we claimed we were too ill to go, then we were too ill to go anywhere else that day. She was the kind of Christian who'd chide us if we set any object on top of our personal or family Bibles. You must have reverence for God and His word, she would say. To this day, her words poke me if I spot a Bible in my house with another book on top of it.
My mother was also a former social worker who had visited the darkest caves of human nature in Memphis, Tenn., and following that career she'd become a certified school teacher for more than 30 years in New Orleans public schools. Consequently, she corrected my brother, my cousins, and I regularly in our use of the King's English, and had stern warnings against the mess we could make of our lives if we didn't straighten up, act right, and be our best noble selves.
She was a woman who'd come of age in the 1940s south and raised a daughter who came of age in the 1970s south. That was the decade finding itself after the free love 60s, after Tennessee Williams, William Faulkner, and Flannery O'Connor had revealed that white southerners could be loons, and the Civil Rights movement snatched away the cloak of respectable injustice. But my mother, while in full support of revolution, wanted her daughter to be god-loving and chaste, and I was not blind to her wishes. When I was 18, she spotted a on my neck, evidence of making out, and perhaps a badge in my mind of a rite of passage I'd read about in books or heard about in school. Not so by my mother. Spotting the redness she announced that men who sucked necks were perverts and by extension so were the girls who let them. I dared not laugh, but my mother was a funny woman.

On TLC Being The Best Selling Group
Thank you for acknowledging that because everyone always credits Destinys Child as the biggest-selling female group, but its just not true. You cant count album sales for each solo project collectively and come up with numbers.
On whether Tameka broke up her relationship with Usher
When people ask whether or not I think she is the reason we broke up, I have no clue what Usher was doing outside of our relationship. When we broke up, it was because it wasnt working out. I later found out there was some infidelity, but he never said who that woman or who those women were, because Im sure it was more than one. Again, I heard things, but Tameka never crossed my mind. The first time I strolled across that [infamous] beach photo I thought somebody photoshopped that. I didnt believe it. I did wonder if she was one of the girls, but again, I never asked. My memory of her was that she was the stylist, because she dressed Usher and I for an event one time. Honestly, those are questions I never asked him, and Ivedistanced myself so much from him. We arent communicating at all. We broke up, had conversation a few times maybe two years after we broke up, and it was a wrap. I think what keeps it alive at all is these [blogs] speculating whether wed get back together.
On being called a homewrecker while dating CNNs T.J Holmes
s clear this up right now. T.J. Holmes was divorced and had been divorced. It wasnt a situation where he was going through a divorce and still married. I would never date a man that is legally separated or tied to another woman. We dated, but it was brief. Im a godly person and try to do all the things that God wants me to do. I have a conscience; I could never do that. Besides, I want to get married and present a healthy wonderful relationship for myself and my 11-year-old son.
On Coping With The Death of Left Eye
I see her family every now and then. I still have my moments and probably always will. Theres not a day that goes by that she doesnt cross my mind. When I do some interviews, I get so upset when people refer to me as the former member of TLC. I am always and still am a part of TLC. We are forever no matter what. As long as T-Boz and I are living, we are keeping Left Eyes memory alive.

Mos Def got in dudes face, snatched his $300 Nikon camera and smashed it to the ground.
WTF? Doesnt he have people who can do this for him? I mean, its not like I believe in the mafia and shit, but groups like that have a hierarchy where lower ranking folks do the dirt and those at the top just sit back and fart. Organized crime is kind of brilliant, you must admit. And with a $300 camera, that photographer dude should get fired for looking like common folk. Real photographers and paps usually only shoot with cameras worth thousands.

The Planet Hollywood Resort Casino in Las Vegas was on fire last night!!!
As you know Justin teamed up with several artists for his Justin Timberlake friends concert as part of his inaugural Shriners Hospitals for Children Open golf tournament week.
It was great memorable show in which Justin duetted with Maroon 5s Adam Levine (This Love), 50 Cent (Ayo Technology Sexy Ladies), Lionel Richie (Easy - from the Comodores) and Will I Am (Damn Girl).
Justin also performed Like I Love You, Cry Me A River, Lovestoned, What Goes Around, Until The End of Time, Senorita, Rock Your Body and his signature hit with which he shocked the fans by saying that he was retiring that song, because he plans never to sing it again (WTF thats one of his greatest songs). - (Thanks to timberho for providing the names of the songs that were performed)
Other artists that performed last night included Esmee Denters, Rihanna, Boys II Men, Leona Lewis The Jonas Brothers.
And one of the most important things is that the concert served its purpose, Justin went on to say that it raised more than 1 million dollars for the Shriners Hospitals.
A lot of videos of the concert should be available soon, meanwhile look at the amazing pictures below.

Justin Timberlake is a six-time Grammy-winning singer, an actor, a songwriter, a record producer and an avid golfer. He’s also the 14th celebrity in the history of the PGA TOUR to host an event, joining the likes of Bob Hope, Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis Jr. The Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open will take place October 13-19 at TPC Summerlin in Las Vegas, Nev. Timberlake recently took time out of his busy schedule to sit down with members of the media and discuss his golf history, his love for the game and his new event.
On his golf background…
Q. When did you start playing golf, and when did you discover you had a passion for it?
TIMBERLAKE: I started playing golf about 5 or 6 years ago while I was on tour, and I had done 3 or 4 shows in a row. We were playing indoor arenas, and I started getting cabin fever. My stage manager and my crew got me out on the golf course. And that first round I hit like a perfect drive and then a pretty good approach shot on I think hole 18, and I was instantly hooked.
Q. How often do you play?
TIMBERLAKE: Not enough. I don’t get to play enough. I play whenever I can, but it’s a double-edged sword because if work is good, then work is good. That means you can’t have any time to play.
Q. What is your golf handicap?
TIMBERLAKE: Well, that depends on who I’m playing with (laughter).
No, I’m a single digit. I range, depending on the time I get to play, I go anywhere from an 8 to a 4, somewhere in that range.
Q. What are your favorite courses in the U.S. and then the courses outside the States?
TIMBERLAKE: That’s tough. Augusta (National) is pretty amazing. I have yet to play Pine Valley, but just from seeing the photos of it that looks pretty amazing. Spyglass is a great course, and of course, my new course. My team would be mad at me if I didn’t say Miramichi Lakes which is our new course opening next summer in the hills of Woodstock, Tennessee, outside Memphis.

Patrick Swazye's surprise appearance at the EIF "Stand Up To Cancer" fund-raising special impressed a nation of television viewers and a stage full of fellow celebrities.
The actor, who was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer earlier this year, was brought out on a darkened stage during the opening segment. When the lights came up, he received a standing ovation. Even Jennifer Aniston, who was in the middle of a phone call, stood up to pay tribute to Swayze.
"He looks amazing," former basketball player Charles Barkley told PEOPLE. "For me, seeing Patrick Swayze, someone who is actually fighting this disease, was the best part of the show. Seeing him in person was amazing."
Swayze smiled and danced in the wings through the show, holding his wife, Lisa Niemi. He even managed a moment of solo air guitar. As Melissa Etheridge and Sugarland crooned the closing song, he approached Barkley and the two had an animated conversation.
"He just came up to me and said, 'hi,' " said Barkley. "We talked about how he was doing. He said he's doing well. He said that he's even gone back to work."
Meanwhile, Aniston, who was wearing a red Stand Up to Cancer tank and jeans and presented the closing segment was joined onstage by all the participating celebrities.
Swayze stayed on stage long after most of the crowd had thinned out chatting with Fran Drescher and other cancer survivors. But no one was more impressed than Noreen Fraser, one of the show's producers and a stage-four breast cancer survivor.
"I just had to thank him for his appearance. His appearance put this event over the top," an emotional Fraser told PEOPLE. "He told me, 'There was no way I was going to say no to this.' "

Justin Timberlake was chosen to appear on the cover of Cond Nast's annual Fashion Rocks issue--a free September supplement to subscribers of any of the media giant's magazines. While the issue itself look like the same promising smattering of fashion and music in pop culture, we have to wonder if the stylist for Justin's shoot was trying to subvert the pop star's image.

Justin Timberlake will never get married, says his close friend Trace Ayala. Although the SexyBack’ singer is smitten with girlfriend Jessica Biel, business partner Ayala insists Justin has no plans to settle down.
When asked if Justin was thinking of marrying Jessica, Ayala said: I hope so. To be honest, I dont see wedding bells in the future, but I hope so. I really do.
Ayala insists the couple - who have been dating for around a year - are perfect for each other and their relationship is stronger than ever. He added: It is not just Jessica, it is also him when he is with her - it is awesome. They are just awesome together. She is just a great girl.
Earlier this month, it was claimed Justin had been seen shopping for a wedding ring and was planning to pop the question to the I Now Pronounce You Chuck And Larry actress. Rumours surfaced the pair were planning to marry on the privately owned island of Mustique in the West Indies.
